...of FORGIVE and FORGET

Now and then, my friends and I have always been arguing about the issue of Forgiving and Forgetting. This issue seems to go on and on and on like forever because no one seems to really agree whether one should forgive and forget or may forgive but not forget or even vice versa.

It just hit me a couple of days ago when I came across one book and read it. It was an interesting book, very inspirational and motivating. The book is called "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman. Thanks to my friends, Jia Yiing for introducing to me the book.

There were a lot of great qoutes that you can read from the book but there was this one that really captured my attention (among the whole lot of my other favorites of course). It is called "and I gave Forgiveness I'd been denying" and this is how it goes like:

"and I gave FORGIVENESS I'd been denying"

Forgive...Forget

FOR LIFE
FOR LOVE
FOREVER
AMEN!
Oh yeah,
Just one more thing...
Forgive yourself.
Isn't it just wonderful? It is very meaningful and this is just among the interesting, motivating and inspiring qoutes you may find in the book.
As for the issue of Forgive and Forget, I still hold on to my belief that it is easy, alright and IMPORTANT to forgive someone, but to forget? It is not that easy. How can you heal such a wound that seems to last as an ugly scar in you? This wound and forever lasting scar will be the reasons for us to learn and grow in becoming someone stronger, mature and more careful in lives. That is why it is important not to hurt someone in any way or another because once the wound is made, the scar will remain forever.
That is just my little piece of mind. I welcome your say about this cos' I believe everyone has a different take on this. I told you what I feel and...yeah, I'm just saying..

yes, i agree... u can forgive but u can seldom forget. but if u cant forget, doesnt that mean who havent forgiven? u just thought u did? i think, u only have fully forgiven a person when u can recall a memory that was once painful and unbearable with a smile on a face and thinking, it wasnt THAT bad after all, and even if it was, it has already made u a stronger person, and there's no regret. but if u still feel the ache when recalling...u havent forgiven yet. These are the things that u will never ever be able to forget, because it is part of ur life. its just how u feel when u recall it. either with a smile on ur face, or still a sting in ur heart.

forgiving someone is a must because everybody make mistakes. forgetting something is not a must since it's not that we can control whether we want to forget something. Only time can make us forget. What you can do is look at the mistake that the person did to you. Look back at yourself whether you have made the same mistake before. If yes, why should you take it seriously since you made the same mistake. If we think that we are that great for not forgiving others, what about our sins to God, our own creator? Do we expect God to forgive us for our sins if we ourselves are hardly enough to forgive others. Hmmmm... I wonder.

Nice topic amir..As for me, i can forgive what people had done to me but i can never forget the thing that they had done.If someone had done something really bad that hurts me emotionally, i would stop having any contacts with them because i can never forget the incident. There is no point in wearing a fake mask to show that we had actually forget and forgive the person.

Forgive... sebab kita tak boleh berdendam... manusia takde kekuatan untuk berdendam...

forget... untuk bagi semua satu lagi peluang... tetapi, jgn lupa semua, kerana ia boleh menjadi reminder for us on cane nak behave around the person...

tapi Maafkanlah... satu perkataan yg berat, tetapi lepas kita praktikalkannya... (even pada diri sendiri) semua bende berat da ilang... idup akan jadi lebih tenang...

Easy to say forgive and forget but hard to do rite... The most important thing, we must learn to forgive ppl but again it depends to that person if he/she wants to forget or not coz it cannot be force. Learn to forgive first then we try to forget ok...
